The chateau is in an excellent location being in the village of Saint Marie du Mont, Normandy, France with a number of small shops including bakery, general store and butcher. More extensive shops and supermarkets can be found about 15 minutes drive away at Saint Mere Eglise and Carentan. There are beautiful sandy beaches along the Normandy coast - the nearest is ten minutes away by car at Utah. The area is of great interest because of the D-Day landings with a variety of museums and sites of interest. There is a theme park (Festyland) outside Caen (about 45 minutes drive), a modern swimming pool at Saint Lo, and the picturesque town of Bayeux, where you can see the Bayeux tapestry, is half an hour away.
